One missing tooth.
A difference you feel.

A gap can make chewing or smiling feel different. A single-tooth implant offers one way to replace that tooth without using its neighbors for support. Start by comparing the options for your smile.

Replace the tooth. Consider the whole smile.

A single-tooth replacement combines an implant in the jaw with a crown above the gumline. A connector joins them. The implant provides support; the crown is the visible tooth used for chewing.

An implant-supported crown does not rely on the neighboring teeth for support. A tooth-supported bridge is another option. Your consultation should compare the alternatives in the context of the teeth you already have.

Plan the crown and the implant together.

Dr. Dreyer evaluates the supporting gums and bone and plans the surgical care. Your restorative dentist provides the crown. Before treatment, discuss the proposed tooth shape, who manages the temporary replacement and when each office expects to see you.

How implant care is coordinated

Prepare for the consultation.

  • Bring information about when the tooth was lost or why removal was recommended.
  • Tell us about earlier treatment in the area and any recent dental imaging.
  • Ask whether the site needs preparation before implant placement.
  • Discuss what you will wear while the area heals.

Plan for comfort before treatment.

Discuss dental anxiety and pain control at your consultation. Local numbing and relaxation options can be considered together, with the approach chosen for your health and procedure.

Comfort & relaxation options

Your questions, answered.

Does one missing tooth always mean one implant?

One implant and crown can replace a single missing tooth, but an implant is not appropriate for every patient or site. Your evaluation should include other ways to manage the space.

Can the crown be fitted immediately?

Timing depends on the surgical and restorative plan. Ask which temporary options are appropriate and when the final crown can be provided; same-day treatment is not assumed.

Who should explain the fees?

Ask both offices for the scope of their work, including the implant, crown, any preparatory treatment and follow-up. This helps you understand the complete plan before scheduling.
